Vision Pro Update: Apple Reportedly Working On Lighter And Cheaper Version

Apple has long been rumored to be working on a new version of its Vision Pro headset. The first version, which is currently the only one on the market, was first announced in 2023. However, since its launch in 2024, the company has reportedly been working on a more affordable version of the headset.
There were also some rumors about Meta RayBan-like AR glasses. But, we may have more details than ever before on Apple’s plans for the Vision Pro. According to Mark Gurman, Apple is reportedly working on two new versions of the Vision Pro headset.
Of the two, one is supposed to be a cheaper and lighter version of the Vision Pro. In fact, the original Vision Pro was launched in the US for $3,500 (approx. Rs 3,00,000). Meanwhile, the other one is likely to be Meta RayBan-style AR glasses. The latter is a bigger focus for Apple right now.
Furthermore, the lighter and cheaper version model is being worked on. Gurman notes that the current Vision Pro headset weighs nearly 1.5 pounds and can cause neck/head strain.
In addition, because of the extremely low latency of a wired connection, the headset could be used to view images during surgery or in flight simulators.
He also added, "Vision Pro is seven times the price of Meta Quest 3, and this headset will “seek to address” both of these issues."
